The Staff Training Visit to Maribor commenced on the 17th of April 2024 at the Department for Architecture, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Architecture University of Maribor. Following the welcome coffee, there was a presentation outlining the Faculty and the schedule for the project meetings. The morning continued with a presentation and discussion on the transformation and regeneration of Maribor’s and Ljubljana’s open public spaces. A guided tour of the previously introduced open public spaces of the city of Maribor and the Minority complex with the new Military Square provided valuable insights into ongoing projects. In the afternoon, attendees had the opportunity to visit the Oldest Vine Museum in the World, followed by a delightful wine-tasting session.
The second day of the visit commenced with a field trip to Ljubljana, where participants explored various architectural landmarks. Highlights of the day included a tour of “Center Rog”. The afternoon was dedicated to a work session focused on the exhibition centered around Architect Jože Plečnik and the arrangement of open spaces in Ljubljana. After a lunch break, discussions continued on the transformation and regeneration of Ljubljana’s open public spaces. The day concluded with a return journey to Maribor.
The final day began with a casual coffee session, allowing participants to reflect on the insights gained during the visit. The morning concluded with a wrap-up meeting focusing on key takeaways from the Maribor leg of the training. Subsequently, participants enjoyed a refreshing walk in Maribor’s City Park, concluding the Staff Training Visit on a pleasant note.
