Working sessions and exibition

Within the framework of the International Summer School, in addition to professional lectures, working sessions were held on the campus of Mother Teresa University in Skopje, led by a team of experts from all five universities, who together with the students worked on developing urban concept ideas for further development of the open public space around the Skopje’s Aqueduct and its better connection with the city. During the working sessions, possible solutions were initiated on how the selected urban fragment (that represents the cultural heritage of the highest level in the country) can be a cleaner, safer, and socially inclusive public space so that visitors (citizens and tourists) would receive a new quality public space for recreation and socialization, which will also promote the cultural and historical value of the monument as well as environmental awareness.

A total of 40 participants took part in this 10-day summer school including international students, teaching staff, and experts.

The mentoring team consisted of teaching staff from all five universities: Prof. Vaso Trova; Prof. Peter Ruge; Prof. Vesna Žegarac Leskovar; Prof. Linda Zardo; Assoc. Prof. Radmila Tomovska; Asst. Prof. Vanja Skalicky Klemenčič; Asst. Adelina Fejza; Asst. Fjolla Pustina; Asst. Anja Patekar; Asst. Nicola Romanato and PhD student Vittoria Ridolfi.

The students from all involved universities worked in mixed groups, developing concept proposals for sustainable bio-climatic revitalization of abandoned urban space – Skopje’s Aqueduct.

The Summer School ended with a closing exhibition, where the students’ work was exhibited, and various institutions and stakeholders were invited to attend this event.
